There are so many exciting things to do at the Grand Canyon! Be left literally breathless by the monumental awe-inspiring views of the Canyon itself and learn more about Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter, one of America's earliest women architects, and her famous rough-hewn structures!

It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve seen it in photos, nothing really prepares you for the first time you set your eyes on the Grand Canyon. To see it you’ll be travelling to Grand Canyon National Park, inaugurated exactly one hundred years ago!

When booking a trip to the Grand Canyon, you can choose between visiting the South Rim, North Rim, Grand Canyon West or of course any combination of the three, depending on your time and what suits you best. Hiking has always been a very popular activity but did you know that you can ride a mule along the South Kaibab Trail?!

Hop aboard the free Hermits Rest Route shuttle bus and get ready to discover the Grand Canyon with free introductions given by both park rangers and volunteers.

Inside Grand Canyon National Park, stop by the Lookout Studio, located on the South Rim. This is a great place to take photographs of the sweeping landscape and get close to the precipitous edge. There are also telescopes so you can zoom in on the canyon’s many fascinating geological features and if you’re lucky spot an eagle or the massive California condor. Located in the Grand Canyon Village, a National Historic Landmark district, the Lookout Studio is also one of the four Mary Jane Colter buildings.

If you’re looking for the park’s most popular rim-to-river route, then the Bright Angel Trail is the one! It offers spectacular views, rest houses, water (depending on the season) and shade at Indian Garden. Day hikers have several options to choose from: either turn around at the Mile-and-a-Half or Three-Mile rest houses, Indian Garden, or Plateau Point.

Thinking about visiting Grand Canyon West?

Before planning a trip to Grand Canyon National Park, you should know it is split into two sections: The South Rim and North Rim, located more than four hours apart by car. Then there’s Grand Canyon West, located on the Hualapai Native American Reservation, four hours from the South Rim and nearly seven hours from the North Rim.

Also good to know: The South Rim is open all year round, and you’ll find pleasant temperatures and smaller crowds in spring and fall.

When planning a trip to the Grand Canyon, it’s a good idea to reserve your accommodation well in advance as the most convenient Grand Canyon lodging options, within the National Park or Grand Canyon West tend to book up quickly sometimes months in advance.

After hiking the popular three-hour self-guided tour that starts at the Grand Canyon Village Historic District (Bright Angel Trailhead) and ends at Hermits Rest you might be ready for something different. Don’t worry, there’s plenty more to do.

Check out all the other fun activities the Grand Canyon National Park has to offer!
One of the best ways to view the Grand Canyon is of course from the air! Book a helicopter tour and fly high above the rugged North Rim, descend to the Canyon floor at sunset. And if that whets your appetite for helicopters, you can even book a flight over the bright lights of the Las Vegas Strip!
