The Leaning Tower of Pisa, built in 1173, is one of the very symbols not only of Pisa but Italy as well and serves as the bell tower to Pisa Cathedral (Primatial Metropolitan Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary) in Tuscany. Located near the Cathedral, it is just one of the monuments that can be found at the Piazza dei Miracoli (the "Square of Miracles"), a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Tower is a masterpiece of Romanesque art with a world-famous reputation, no doubt because of its characteristic tilt!

Children under 8 are unfortunately not allowed to enter the Tower. Young people between the ages of 8 and 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Due to the large number of steps (297!) visiting the Tower is not recommended for people with cardiovascular problems or with walking disabilities.
Please wear appropriate attire while visiting the Cathedral.
Please be aware that you will be asked to leave all metal objects, and any bags or cases regardless of size (camera covers included) at the luggage storage area located at 21 Piazza del Duomo (only 80 meters from the entrance to the Tower).
