  • Description

Your trip to Mont Saint-Michel is a three-and-a-half-hour drive by coach leaving from central Paris but you'll see, the trip is totally worth it.

Once you've arrived at this UNESCO World Heritage Site, first thing is lunch! Then the tour begins! Famous for its unique location, perched high on a granite rock, Mont Saint-Michel is a wonder to behold. Your guide will take you on a walking tour through narrow streets to the top of the village. Hear all about its history as a destination for pilgrims during the Middle Ages. Learn about its world-famous Abbey founded in the eighth century after the bishop of Avranches (the biggest nearby town) was apparently visited by none other than Michael the Archangel himself.

Once at the Abbey you will get to admire its ramparts, refectory and cloister and enjoy sweeping views of the sea below. The same sea that creates treacherous tides that surround the island and cut it off from the mainland. Once the guided tour is over, you're free to wander and explore at your leisure. Use this time to pick up some mementos, visit one of the local museums or just enjoy the scenery.

You'll spend about four hours at the site before jumping back on the bus for your trip back to Paris.
